    FAQ's About Replacing Windscreens

No, it is not necessary to replace the windscreen with the same brand as the original one. However, it is recommended to use a high-quality windscreen that meets or exceeds the same standards as the original one. This is because windscreens are an important safety component of your vehicle, and using a substandard or incompatible windscreen could compromise its structural integrity in the event of an accident. Your auto glass professional can advise you on which windscreen is appropriate for your vehicle.

It is generally not recommended to drive your car immediately after the windscreen is replaced, as the adhesive used to secure the windscreen needs time to cure. The amount of time required for the adhesive to cure can vary depending on the type of adhesive used, the weather conditions, and the temperature. Your auto glass professional will advise you on how long to wait before driving your car, but as a general rule, it is best to wait at least an hour or two before driving. Additionally, you should avoid exposing the car to extreme temperatures or harsh weather conditions, such as rain or snow, for at least 24 hours after the windscreen replacement.

While it is technically possible to replace a windscreen in cold or wet weather, it is generally not recommended. This is because the adhesive used to secure the windscreen needs to cure at a certain temperature, and cold or wet weather can interfere with this process. In addition, rain or moisture can prevent the adhesive from bonding properly to the car, which can compromise the structural integrity of the windscreen. It is best to schedule the replacement during a dry and mild period if possible.

It is generally not recommended to wash your car immediately after the windscreen is replaced, as water can interfere with the curing process of the adhesive used to secure the windscreen. Your auto glass professional will advise you on how long to wait before washing your car, but as a general rule, it is best to avoid washing the car for at least 24 hours after the windscreen replacement. In addition, you should avoid using high-pressure water or harsh cleaning agents on the windscreen for at least a week after replacement, as this can damage the new windscreen or interfere with the adhesive bonding process.
